How To Start A Blog For Beginners

These are the basic steps you can take to start your own blog as a beginner. 

A lot of people have been asking me, "Victoria, how did you start your blog?" "Can I also become a blogger?". In this post, I will show you how to start blogging from the basics.

Niche:

Before you start the blogging process, you have to know what you will be blogging about. Niches are very important to readers and they are the whole point of blogging. There are niches like:

* News and politics

* Entertainment

* Fashion and Beauty

* Lifestyle

* Foodie blogs

* Travel

* Fitness and health

* How-to's 

* Technology and computers

The above blogs are the most popular types of blogs, often known to have more appeal to a larger group of people. While it will be fun to blog about things you love, to actually monetize it efficiently, you have to blog about what people need.

Domain:

A lot of people will notice .WordPress.com or .blogspot.com added to blog names. While these are actually okay for a beginner, you can actually buy domain names, so your blog actually becomes your blog. Something like Encyclopedia.com is 100% owned by encyclopedia. 

But, if you want to start free(which everyone does these days) create a Wordpress account or blogger account by visiting these websites respectfully.

Once you've created it, congratulations! You now own a blog, that was easier than you thought right? Remember, let your blog name suit the purpose of the blog.

Customize Your Blog:

Add pictures and responsive topics to your blog. Pictures and themes which suits the blog niche best should be used. A professional blog should have more monochromatic colours than a fashion blog which should be colourful.

Writing and Content:

As easy as creating a blog seems, content is actually king always. Great content makes readers love your blog, so you've to improve on your grammar and use of punctuations. When writing, you should use simple and understandable words to pass information to your readers.

Subscription:

At the header of Victoria Awe, you will notice a subscription key there, I set it up to allow readers get notified by email once new content drop. If you've not subscribed to this blog, please do. Set up a subscription key on your blog so subscibers will find it easier to know when you've dropped something new.

Contact Info:

You can add a contact info page so if anyone wants to contact you for more info or sponsored ads, they will have the means to. I set up my contact info with my telephone number and my email address.

Advertisement:

I'm using blogger as a means of blogging, google has AdSense set up to help bloggers make an income fron their hobbies. It's quite hard to get approved by AdSense, and there is the six months wait for your blog to mature a little. If you want more info on how to get your AdSense approved, you can tell me on the comment section so I can create a blog post for that purpose. So with AdSense, you can earn money, who knows, maybe even richer than Linda Ikeji.

Sharing And Social Media:

This is my favorite, sharing is very powerful. Share your content on your social media accounts. Create pages for your blog, ask people to share for you, the world is pretty much a global village, keep sharing content till everyone knows of your amazing blog.

Patience:

It's fine to not get approved by AdSense (email me to assist you). It's okay to not drink in massive in your first few months, it's okay to not get comments on your blog( I didn't get any comment on my blog till after four months) sometimes it feels like no one loves your content, it's fine. People are reading and loving your blog, even in silence, be patient.

Quick Tips For Blogging:

* Be consistent with blogging

* Respond to comments as often as you can.

* Be very clear in your writing.

* Be helpful.

* Meet a need of the reader.
